Cat with Grapes and Wine
Oliver the cat always tries to steal my food. In this painting he is eying my grapes, probably because I had just washed them and he wanted to drink the water that dripped off of them. Alas, I was able to protect my snack and I rewarded him with a kitty treat for creating such a picturesque scene. SOLD

Sleeping Cat
After a long day of playing and trying to steal my chicken dinner, Oliver is tired. I painted this from life, between Oliver's tosses and turns. I usually paint cats from photos because they don't sit still, but I decided to do an impromptu sketch with paint. the finished product is slightly impressionistic.

Looking Out the Window II
Oliver is a great model and muse. In this painting, however, he is visibly tired of living with the paparazzi and just wants to look out the window without having his picture taken (this was painted from a photograph). Maybe I'll give him a break and just let him be a regular cat for a few days. SOLDJan 17, 2008

An Arcade in Venice
Touring the Grand Canal

This is a Venetian scene that I painted in 2007. It is one of the twelve paintings that I have done since my Italian tour in June. There are hopefully many more to follow. This painting is approximately 18" h x 24" w. It was a joy to paint, watching it transpire over a period of weeks. I usually work on several paintings at a time, then I can go back to each with fresh eyes after taking a break.

The Afternoon Shift

I painted this in 2007. This, like most of my travel inspired paintings, was painted from a photograph. I traveled to Italy in June, and it seemed that every street contained thousands of painting compositions. This particular scene was in Venice. I would love to stand there and paint from life, but when every street contains something different to capture, you have to keep moving.
The Jonelle Aesthetic: An Introduction
I have been involved in art my whole life. My mother is a painter and, as a child, I accompanied her to art shows and was forced to listen to what I thought of as endless chatter on the subject. She encouraged me to take drawing classes in high school while I expressed interest in going to college for fashion design. Well, I forgot about fashion design and began to draw for the sake of drawing. My mother gave me some painting lessons six years ago and I have been painting ever since. We now endlessly chatter about painting together. Most of my subject matter is inspired by my travels to England, France, Italy and various places in the northeastern United States. I paint a lot of interiors and architecture, among other subjects.
I have exhibited work in Western Pennsylvania at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art, at the Latrobe (Pa.) Art Center and various other juried shows. I have been selling on Ebay since 2004.
