This painting is 10" h x 8" w. It was inspired by an interior of a bed & breakfast in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to art, one of my favorite things is interior design. I use my need for subject matter as an excuse to visit places like this. It is for sale without a frame. I'm not sure if people prefer their paintings framed or not... I think of the frame as part of the art. If it is an interior scene, I try to choose a frame that you would actually see in that room. As an interior designer though, I am very picky with the frames that go into my house, and I am sensitive to the fact that my customers may be the same way. SOLD

Bed and Breakfast Interior II

This is another interior scene, painted from a photograph that I took at a bed & breakfast. I love interiors. When I travel, I fall in love with the places I see and want to take them home with me. So, I take pictures and repaint them. Then when I look at them they transport me to my vacations (unless someone buys them). This painting will be at my exhibit at the Third Street Gallery in Carnegie, PA. SOLD

LUCCA LANDSCAPE
No, I haven't been slacking off for the past few weeks. I have been working on paintings for an exhibit at the Third Street Gallery in Carnegie, PA. This is one of the three new ones that I have finished. It is a landscape near Lucca, Italy. It almost seems as though I was never there, only having visited in my dreams. This painting is 24" w x 30" h. SOLD.

How to Get Comfortable?
This cat looks like he is having trouble getting comfortable. He seems to be in the midst of twirling around for the best vantage point. The oil painting is 8" w x 10" h and was painted from a photo. It will be at the International Images gallery in Sewickley, PA for the town's annual Spring Gallery Walk on April 11th. SOLD

Cat with Grapes and Wine
Oliver the cat always tries to steal my food. In this painting he is eying my grapes, probably because I had just washed them and he wanted to drink the water that dripped off of them. Alas, I was able to protect my snack and I rewarded him with a kitty treat for creating such a picturesque scene. SOLD

Sleeping Cat
After a long day of playing and trying to steal my chicken dinner, Oliver is tired. I painted this from life, between Oliver's tosses and turns. I usually paint cats from photos because they don't sit still, but I decided to do an impromptu sketch with paint. the finished product is slightly impressionistic.

Venetian Canal Study

This is a study of a Venetian Canal. I wanted to determine if the composition and style will be suitable as a larger piece, and I may soon paint a larger one. I have been trying to paint a picture every day since January 1 to experiment with different subject matter and paint applications, therefore they have all been very small. Now I find it difficult to return to larger pieces as the smaller ones have a greater sense of spontaneity and freshness.

Looking Out the Window II
Oliver is a great model and muse. In this painting, however, he is visibly tired of living with the paparazzi and just wants to look out the window without having his picture taken (this was painted from a photograph). Maybe I'll give him a break and just let him be a regular cat for a few days. SOLDJan 17, 2008
