Cafe Interior

This painting is based on a photo that I took at a cafe in Quebec City in May. The couple at the table in the corner reads the newspaper after a late lunch. It seems like many people linger over their meals there, which is how it should be. This painting is 16" w x 20"h. SOLD.

After a Long Day

After a long day, I sometimes like to imbibe...red wine is my favorite. This gentleman in a long coat is either going to have a seat with a glass of Cabernet after dealing with the cold weather outside, or he is getting ready to go out for a stroll...you decide. The painting is 12" w x 16" h.

Reading on a Chaise

I haven't had any "daily paintings" for about a week, yet I have been painting every day for hours and hours getting ready for autumn art events. This oil painting is 18" h x 24" w. SOLD

Strawberry Sorbet

Often during my meals, the act of eating is postponed in the pursuit of a painting composition. I have to limit that with sorbet, as it melts quickly. People in restaurants seem to wonder why I am taking photos of the room and of my food, and sketching rather than eating. I hope that restaurant staffs don't think that I am a food critic or from the department of health and sanitation... I just want them to know that I am merely in awe of the sights associated with food. This painting is 5" h x 7" w. This painting is no longer available.

This painting was inspired by a walk that I took at night in Quebec City, Canada. I love walking in the evenings... one can see the buildings and sidewalks that are normally tan or gray turn to blue and violet. The lights cast warm reflections on the windows. SOLD

Night Walk

This painting was inspired by a walk that I took at night in Venice, Italy. This doorway was a portal to a different street, where the shop interiors were still illuminated before closing for the night. The upper apartment windows glowed from within. SOLD

Where's the Bus?

I painted this from a photograph that I took while getting ready to leave for our most recent vacation. I think the cat is starting to understand the significance of suitcases. When he sees us packing them and placing them by the door, he knows that all the grandparents will be visiting every day to spoil him even more than he already is. This painting is 10" w x 8" h. SOLD

Cat at Rest

After reading a book and drinking a glass of wine, sometimes one needs a nap. And I was going to take one until Oliver the cat kicked me off the sofa. He hadn't read a book or drank any wine, but I guess watching the birds fly outside the window can be almost as tiresome. This painting is 8" w x 10" h. SOLD

Rainy Day at Chateau Frontenac

The setting for this painting is at the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, Canada. It was a rainy day. The dark clouds and the views into the busy cafes and restaurants added coziness. I had to have several cafe lattes that day to keep warm. This painting is 8" w x 10" h. SOLD

Before Dinner

The painting was inspired by the interior of a restaurant in Quebec City, Canada. I vacationed there (and gathered subject matter) in May. This was the perfect cafe...it smelled like a combination of candles, wine, and the age that builds in old structures over time. It was dimly illuminated with candlelight, chandeliers and the light from the window. The place added warmth to an otherwise cold and rainy day.SOLD

Inviting Chair

This painting is 10" h x 8" w. It was inspired by an interior of a bed & breakfast in Pittsburgh, PA. In addition to art, one of my favorite things is interior design. I use my need for subject matter as an excuse to visit places like this. It is for sale without a frame. I'm not sure if people prefer their paintings framed or not... I think of the frame as part of the art. If it is an interior scene, I try to choose a frame that you would actually see in that room. As an interior designer though, I am very picky with the frames that go into my house, and I am sensitive to the fact that my customers may be the same way. SOLD

Inquisitive Cat

Cats are normally curious...imagine if they could read! They would probably bat the books around after reading them, as is the cat in the painting. This is oil on canvas, 8" h x 16" w. No longer available.

Bed and Breakfast Interior II

This is another interior scene, painted from a photograph that I took at a bed & breakfast. I love interiors. When I travel, I fall in love with the places I see and want to take them home with me. So, I take pictures and repaint them. Then when I look at them they transport me to my vacations (unless someone buys them). This painting will be at my exhibit at the Third Street Gallery in Carnegie, PA. SOLD

This painting is 24" w x 30" h. SOLD.

Cat with Grapes and Wine

Oliver the cat always tries to steal my food. In this painting he is eying my grapes, probably because I had just washed them and he wanted to drink the water that dripped off of them. Alas, I was able to protect my snack and I rewarded him with a kitty treat for creating such a picturesque scene. SOLD
