In the summer of 2021, I drove to Massachusetts on a solo trip. I sometimes travel better alone, as I don't have to worry that my subject-matter-gathering isn't getting in the way of what would normally be a relaxing trip. I feel free to explore, change plans on a whim, and eat less than impressive meals on the run. On this trip, I was in search of small towns near Marblehead and Rockport, and everything in between. I drove toward Ipswich and loved all the food stands and the sights of families enjoying their vacations. I noticed a sign for the Crane Estate, which sounded impressive, so on a whim, I toured the grounds. I hope to go back and tour the inside of the estate as well as the connected beach.
