A kickboxer taking a break between rounds of sparring. This painting is part of my fight camp series. I took the reference photos at Elite Combative Systems in Indiana, PA, during a time when some of my fellow students were training extra hard for fights. I liked the gloves, so I decided to paint a small one of just them in the "Blue Boxing Gloves" painting. Oil on 18"h x 24"w x 1 1/2" stretched linen.

Blue Boxing Gloves
A painting of my retired blue boxing gloves. In many ways, martial arts relates to painting. In both, the tools can help or hinder the work one does. I chose to paint my old boxing gloves, which helped preserve my hands during bag work. This not only ensures that I will be able to keep practicing martial arts, but also that I will protect my hands for painting! Oil on 8"h x 10"w x 1 1/2" stretched canvas.

Sparring Day
At Elite Combative Systems in Indiana, PA, we dedicate at least one kickboxing class per week to sparring. We put everything we learn on technique days to practice, and we all work together to help each other improve. Oil on 30"h x 24"w x 1 1/2" stretched linen.
