A Stroll Through Luxembourg Gardens

The Luxembourg Gardens in Paris was already in full bloom in early May. The park was empty when I was there, making it feel like it was all mine. Oil on 16" x 24" stretched canvas. SOLD.

Marseille Harbor

I finally had the chance to paint one of the photos that I snapped in Marseille, France from my 2019 trip. It sometimes takes me a while to figure out how I want to tackle a subject, especially if it is a new place to me. I am often challenged by figuring out what size a painting should be. I determined that 18" x 24" was the optimal size for this painting. It is available on the UGallery website. This is a link to my page on the site.

Marseille felt different than other European towns. It was quiet in the morning and afternoon, but at night, the sidewalks were lively, hosting crowds of people at outdoor cafes who watched soccer games on TVs. We sometimes had to walk onto the street to continue on our way to the harbor. At the harbor, families, individuals, locals, and tourists mingled together. Kids had entertaining toys, including sparklers, while vendors sold their wares. We enjoyed the scenery and the abundant seafood.

Dinner in Lyon

We were originally supposed to fly into Aix en Provence last year, but due to two consecutive days of flight delays, we changed our route to land in Lyon, which saved us another day of delays. The reference photo was taken in a section of town where the streets are lined with outdoor restaurants, and was reminiscent of Saint Germain des Pres in Paris. Oil on 30"h x 24"w stretched linen. SOLD.

Cigarette Break

A painting of a couple of guys taking a cigarette break in Paris. Even though I don't smoke, I do like the smell of a bit of cigarette smoke. One of the things I first noticed about Paris, which made the personality of the city so distinct, was the smell. It smelled like a combination of old buildings, cologne, wine, food and cigarette smoke, and it seemed as though the smell built upon itself over the years, so now a little of the oldest scent still seems to remain. It is one of my favorite things about the city, and it wouldn't be the same without the tobacco smell.  Oil on Canvas, 16" x 12". SOLD.

Busy Cafe

This is one of the many busy street cafes in Paris. My husband and I visited there two years ago. Now, every spring at exactly the same time we were there, I want to paint pictures of Paris in spring. Oil on Canvas, 30"h x 24"w.

Cafe Chairs

Since the beginning of February, I have been working on about 15 medium to large(ish) paintings, and have not been able to complete any of them. It is probably too many to work on all at once, but I wanted them all to have a similar theme and style. This is a small painting that is indicative of the subject... Paris. This time of year, I always seem to want to go to Paris because it is the perfect place to enjoy a warm spring afternoon at an outdoor cafe with a cup of coffee. This painting is 5"h x 7"w. SOLD.

Cafe Bazar

This is a corner table at Cafe Bazar of Salzburg, Austria. It was my first Austrian cafe visit on our trip to the country in October. It was everything I had hoped to experience at an old-world cafe! Oil on canvas, 8" x 8" x 1 1/2". SOLD.

Blue Room at the Albertina

My first completed painting of 2012! This painting was inspired by one of the rooms at the Albertina Museum in Vienna, Austria. Every room in the palace was a bit different. From this vantage point, I could see bits of the other-colored rooms. Oil on Canvas, 18"h x 24"w x 1 1/2"d.
