A Square in Aix

We had an arduous journey to Aix en Provence, via Canada. We had two consecutive days of flight delays, and were rerouted to Lyon instead of Marseille, so we missed our first planned day in Aix. When we finally arrived, we threw our bags down in our apartment, and sprinted to the nearest square for drinks. The billowy umbrellas and mist from the cooling devices under the gnarly trees was a heavenly sight. Finally sitting in the square with a Pastis and a meat & cheese board was one of the most rewarding experiences. This was the view from our table. SOLD.

Cassis Beach

A painting of people enjoying their weekend on the beach of Cassis, France. One of my favorite beaches ever, as you can walk the calanques to other remote beaches, or just sip a glass of wine while eating fresh seafood at one of the many beach side cafes. Swimming in the Mediterranean is very refreshing, but I had to wear water shoes with all the small rocks. I seriously want to move there. Oil on 18"h x 24" w stretched linen. SOLD.

Market Day in Aix

I assembled a wonderful meal from the ingredients found at this market. It isn't typically much of a vacation when you have to cook, but in this case, trying to live like a local was a vacation. Oil on 24"h x 18"w stretched linen. SOLD.

A Walk in Aix

Midday in Aix en Provence is hot and bright. Many people are eating lunch or spending time indoors at this time of day. But, it is a great time to explore the city due to fewer crowds, and the city's trees and gardens are at their most colorful. Warm afternoon light casts rich blue and purple shadows on the sidewalk and walls. Oil on 11"h x 14"w stretched linen

Seussen Van Floofen

This is my first painting of our new addition, Seuss. We met last summer while rucking in town with some friends. We decided to do a hill ruck with our weighted packs for a tougher workout and suddenly this cat jumped out at us and started following us. I posted it on Facebook later, and found out that the cat belonged to another friend, and she had just gotten her. A few months later, Seuss wasn't getting along with her other cat and she needed a home. After thinking about it, we decided to give her a chance. Though she is small and mostly toothless, she chased my other cats around the house for weeks. Finally they suddenly started to ignore her, and now they co-exist. I'm glad they can keep the peace and am happy to have her to snuggle with on the sofa. I'm sure there will be many paintings of her in the near future! SOLD.
