Alfred and Sunflowers

This oil painting of my cat Alfred sniffing sunflowers was supposed to be 8" x 8" but I kind of like the unfinished, sketchy paint edges, so I may make it bigger. Like Stella, he appreciates plants. Like the other paintings in my "Cat Week" or now, "Cat Fortnight" series, 25% of the sale price will help local cats in need. If you are purchasing from my website, note that this is the correct image. Squarespace will not allow me to post anything other than portrait format. SOLD.

Stella and Sunflowers

Stella has had a long history with sunflowers. I painted a picture of her dragging one across the dining room table when she was a kitten. She is now twelve and still tries to smell and bite them when in close proximity to them. I made sure that she didn't do that when she jumped up to smell these ones from the farmers' market in an antique vase. But, I had to get a picture of her next to her favorite flower. And then I'm sure I took her for a walk outside to get some cat grass. She makes sure to eat her greens. Oil on 8" x 8" stretched linen. 25% of the painting's selling price will be used to help local cats in need. SOLD.

Interrupted Nap

Stella the cat was abruptly awakened from her peaceful nap in the sun. The fur around her face exhibits "bed head" which makes her look even cuter than she normally does. This oil on 8" x 8" stretched linen is available on my website. 25% of the total price will be used to help local cats in need as part of my "Cat Week" promotion. SOLD.

Birdwatching II

Tiny the cat watching birds through the window is the equivalent of a sports fanatic watching football on TV. She thinks she can get the birds even though a window separates her from them. Her entertainment entertains me. Oil on 8" x 8" stretched linen. 25% of the painting sale price will go toward helping local feral cats. SOLD.

The Kitchen Helper

Daphne, or as we call her, Tiny Kitten, loves to help in the kitchen. She is the only cat in the house who doesn't really care for "people food" but purely enjoys the process of cooking and cleaning. Oil on 12"h x 9"w stretched linen.

This is one of the paintings I have recently completed for the show I am currently having with my mother, Jolene Joyner, at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Ligonier, PA. "Looking for the Light in Dark Times" is available to view from now until July 31st. The exhibit will feature work that my mom and and I have done over the past year that is meant to add positivity to a world that currently has many challenges. The museum will be open Tuesday - Saturday from 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Please visit this page for more details on the show and how to register for the opening reception on June 12th at 5:00 p.m. that coincides with the Museum's Woodstock themed Garden Party. SOLD.

Orange and White Kitten

This was one of six kittens I found last fall on a busy road at night. I took them home with me and ended up finding them all homes, and I adopted the last one. I really wish people would spay and neuter their pets and keep them indoors, especially if they live near a busy road. Oil on 8"h x 6"w stretched linen. SOLD.

Seussen Van Floofen

This is my first painting of our new addition, Seuss. We met last summer while rucking in town with some friends. We decided to do a hill ruck with our weighted packs for a tougher workout and suddenly this cat jumped out at us and started following us. I posted it on Facebook later, and found out that the cat belonged to another friend, and she had just gotten her. A few months later, Seuss wasn't getting along with her other cat and she needed a home. After thinking about it, we decided to give her a chance. Though she is small and mostly toothless, she chased my other cats around the house for weeks. Finally they suddenly started to ignore her, and now they co-exist. I'm glad they can keep the peace and am happy to have her to snuggle with on the sofa. I'm sure there will be many paintings of her in the near future! SOLD.

Coffee Cat

My Alfred likes to hang out on the kitchen countertop. He even eats his canned breakfast and dinner up there, away from Stella who always tries to steal his food. I painted this from a photo I took while preparing both of our breakfasts one morning. Oil on 6"h x 4"w stretched canvas. SOLD.

Catnap

These two friends, Nigel and Malcolm, choose a spot of warm sunlight in which to take their nap. I was going to work on it a bit more, but I like the impressionist quality, especially in the foreground where their fur fades into the background. Oil on 4"h x 6"w stretched canvas.

Alfred

A painting of my handsome man, Alfred. We thought he looked like a bat when we got him as a kitten, and thought about naming him Bruce Wayne. But, we were pretty sure we weren't the first people to think of that, so we named him after Batman's butler. Oil on 4" x 4" stretched canvas. SOLD.

Sassy Cat

My cat, Oliver looked more sassy and grumpy than he actually was. He was very shy when we first adopted him, but over time he became like a little shadow, accompanying us wherever we went in the house. This was part of UGallery's Ornamental Artwork Collection, which can be viewed here. SOLD.

Cat with Coffee and Sunflower

This is a painting of my Stella with a cup of coffee. I meant to photograph still lifes of coffee with desserts and sunflowers, but Stella had to investigate, so I ended up photographing her as well. This is a pretty accurate depiction of her daily activities, as she normally sits three inches from my plate at dinner, waiting for a bite of food to fall off. I usually give her a little bite.

This was part of UGallery's Ornamental Artwork Collection, which can be viewed here. SOLD.

Ready for a Nap

This is Scrapper the cat. He is tired from a day of defending his territory from the neighborhood cats and needs a nap to regain his energy. While he isn't super friendly toward other cats, he loves the company of humans. Oil on 4" x 4" stretched canvas. The edges are painted raw umber and it comes with a mini display easel. This is part of UGallery's Ornamental Artwork Collection, which you can view here. SOLD.

A Walk in the Garden

Rufus the cat takes a walk in the garden on a sunny summer day. I had strategically planted catnip to attract cats to chase the rabbits away from my greens. It worked! Oil on 4" x 4" streched canvas. The edges are painted raw umber, and the painting comes with a mini display easel. It is part of the Ornamental Artwork Collection at UGallery.com. The entire collection can be viewed here. SOLD.
