Somewhere on the Camino Frances

I'm not sure where this is but it is somewhere on the Camino Frances. I loved the varied terrain and mix of complementary colors. The cool blue of the houses' shadow sides and the blue sky provided extra layers of contrast. The tomato towers broke up the horizontal lines in the composition.

Many crops were growing in Spain when I walked last September. In addition to intentionally planted farms and vineyards, many sources of treats grew voluntarily beside the path. I didn't pick anything if it appeared to be part of anyone's property, but in the middle of nowhere, other pilgrims and I cobbled together snacks of blackberries, apples, figs, walnuts, and almonds. We didn't often have tools with which to crack nuts, but I'll always laugh when I remember one of my fellow pilgrims cracking almonds with the edge of a cutting board one night. We all probably should have been wearing protective eyewear.

The Welcome Committee

My husband and I were looking for a trail near Bozeman, MT when we passed a llama farm. I had to get out of the car to get a closer look. Many of the sweet faced creatures came running over to greet me, and reminded me of my cats at home that do the same thing. Oil on 6"h x 4"w stretched canvas.

Pennsylvania Farmhouse

I don't paint a lot of landscapes, but this red farmhouse caught my eye when traveling through Clarion County in Pennsylvania. I loved the contrast of the red and green, as well as the shadows from the trees. Oil on 9"h x 12"w Ray Mar canvas panel. SOLD.

Sunrise in Wexford Ireland

When we visited Ireland, we stayed one night at a farm in Wexford. The sun woke me up at around 5:30 am. I looked out the window to see the most gorgeous sunrise. The sky was every color, there was mist over the fields, and the sheep were already grazing in the field. Before the sun changed positions, I had to get a few pictures. Then I ran outside to walk around the farm before the heavy Irish breakfast. For once in my life, I was awake before the chickens! Oil on 12"h x 16"w stretched linen. SOLD.
